What is a soundproof rubber roll used for?
Soundproof rubber rolls are acoustic underlays installed beneath floor screeds or finished flooring to reduce impact noise (footfall, vibrations) and airborne sound transmission between floors and rooms. Used in residential buildings, offices, recording studios, and industrial sites where compliance with acoustic building regulations is required.
What thickness of rubber underlay is needed for effective impact noise reduction?
3–5 mm is standard for underscreed or under floating floors in residential use; 8–10 mm is used for heavier industrial or studio applications. Prismi MGE rolls are available from 3 mm to 10 mm. For technical selection, refer to ISO 12354-2 dynamic stiffness values in the product data sheets.
Are recycled rubber acoustic underlays safe? Do they release VOCs?
Yes. All Prismi acoustic underlays are A+ VOC certified — the lowest measurable emission level. No heavy metals, no asbestos, no harmful substances. Fully compliant with EU health and environmental safety standards for indoor use.
Can rubber rolls be installed directly under screed?
Yes. Prismi MGE rolls are specifically designed for underscreed (floating floor) installation. They are laid on the structural slab, with the screed poured on top, decoupling the floor from the building structure and achieving up to 22 dB ΔLw impact noise reduction per ISO 10140-3 laboratory tests.
What is the difference between rubber rolls and rubber-cork rolls?
Rubber rolls (MGE) use recycled SBR as the sole material — optimised for high-density compression resistance and broad-frequency impact attenuation. Rubber-cork rolls (MGC) combine SBR with natural cork: the cork layer adds higher-frequency absorption and a more natural feel underfoot, preferred for premium residential and hospitality projects.
